SplitCheck – Check Splitter / Tip Calculator

While several applications facilitate splitting a restaurant check among multiple parties, this tool is specifically designed to enable rapid and precise data entry. It focuses on a single core function: calculating individual shares efficiently. This streamlined approach aims to avoid misunderstandings at the table, ensuring that all parties are aware of their exact obligations without delay or confusion.

Users can input itemized charges from their restaurant receipt into SplitCheck. As each item’s price is entered, an automatic line appears below, ready for the next entry. This feature minimizes the number of interactions needed, allowing for swift data entry. The app also provides a flexible system for assigning payers to each item; names, initials, or numbers can be used and are case insensitive for ease of use. For shared items, payees' identifiers can be separated by spaces. If an item is split among all present parties, leaving the payer field blank instructs the app to evenly distribute that cost among all entered payees.

The app includes a ‘Tax’ button to input sales tax. The tax amount is then proportionally distributed based on each person’s share of the subtotal. A spinner allows selection of a tip percentage, with separate calculations displayed for each individual.

A coupon feature is incorporated, enabling users to assign a discount amount to one or multiple payees by entering the value and pressing ‘Coupon.’ Notably, the tip calculation is based on the original bill before applying any coupon reductions.

At any time, selecting ‘Show Splits’ reveals a detailed account of what each payee owes, sorted alphabetically by name. The display includes subtotals for the bill, tips, and total amounts. An additional ‘Details’ button provides a comprehensive breakdown for each individual payee.
